Kim & Salvador are engaged!

March 28

Oh y’all! My heart could not be more full! Kim has been my dearest friend since college–we’ve photographed weddings together, traveled to Hawaii together, talked about Christy Miller books way too much, and have been known to have a few dance parties in the car. I cannot even begin to describe how much I love these two together. I hope everyone has a couple in their life as fun and joyful as Kim and Salvador. They are two people crazy in love, who also make room to embrace and love others. I love that. They see beauty in everything around them, and their lightheartedness is contagious.

They found the most amazing abandoned chapel in the middle of West Texas, so we trekked out there one windy morning. SO worth it, don’t you think?! :)

Kate & Jeff Are Engaged! • Austin Engagement Session

February 25

Yowza! I’m just warning you–these two are super cute! :)

Meet Kate & Jeff. Two gems with hearts for the Lord. What a joy it was to spend an afternoon with them! They were so sweet and even let me get all geeky, chatting about film. I’ve been so SO excited about the new challenge of shooting film that I can’t help but try to educate everyone around me about what I’m doing, why I’m doing it, etc. I’ll never forget, every time I finished a roll of film, they would cheer with me. :) Makes my heart SO happy!

Kate & Jeff, thank you so much for spending the afternoon with me! I had so much fun talking with y’all, hearing about your plans for the future, and seeing your love for the Lord and for each other. I absolutely cannot wait until your wedding! XOXO

This session was shot half film / half digital. Come back on Wednesday, because I’ll be continuing my film vs. digital series with an image comparison break down from Kate & Jeff’s session. I can’t wait! :)

Lindsay & Brian Are Engaged!

November 27

Oh, y’all! Fall has arrived! Nothing is sweeter to my soul than stepping outside and feeling the change in season, all the way down to my toes. Everything is different, lending a happy change in perspective and a refreshing change of pace.

This time of year, when I’m photographing, my eyes are opened in a whole new way. I can almost inhabit the beauty of the season through my camera. The light slants differently and somehow seems more golden than ever before. The color tones are soft like watercolor. I look at the back of my camera while shooting and, be still my heart!

Lindsay and Brian are just as sweet, golden, and vibrant as their surroundings. I loved getting to spend such an inspiring afternoon with them. Lindsay has been a ballet dancer all her life, and since I’m secretly obsessed with ballet, I couldn’t help but start off with this shot…

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

November 19

Thanksgiving is officially upon us! I’m so looking forward to everything this week holds: a road trip with my husband, family time and getting lots of play time with my adorable twin nephews, a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, our not-so-traditional day-before-Thanksgiving dinner of fajitas (my dad started this tradition), and the official start to Christmas time! After this week, I won’t have to feel guilty when listening to Christmas music. :)

Things will be quiet around the blog this week–EXCEPT for Thanksgiving day, when I’ll announce the winner for the Instax Mini giveaway! You still have time to enter if you haven’t yet! All you have to do to win the Instax Mini is (1) Follow me on Instagram @caroline_joy (2) Give me (and the giveaway) a shout out on your Instagram feed. Easy as pie. Make sure to check back here on Thanksgiving to see if you won!

In the mean time, I wanted to share a few images from a session last week. I had the honor of photographing this precious little family on Friday, and all I can say is, bringing your dog along for your session = SO AWESOME in my book. I just love pups and the joy they bring to photos!

Liana & Ted are engaged!

October 11

My heart is always so thrilled at those first few cool days of Fall. I love stepping outside, and then running back inside to grab a cardigan to ward off the early Autumn chill. :) I had the joy of spending one of those crisp, beautiful days with Liana and Ted, traipsing around Barton Springs, laughing, taking photos, and having a ball. Liana and Ted have a legacy love story that started in high school, and I’m so excited for them as they continue their legacy with a sweet wedding ceremony next April. Congratulations, you guys!!

July 30

These two had me smiling constantly on the afternoon of their engagement session. Jada and Kevin are two of the warmest people I’ve ever met–their hearts are the size of Texas. :)

July 24

You’re about to meet two of the coolest people ever. I just loved being around them on the afternoon of their engagement session. They dream big–they love traveling, experiencing new cultures and people, they believe in living life to the fullest, they are super cool and on top of the best art and music, and their kindness for everyone, even strangers, is inspiring beyond words. I love the spirit of whimsey they brought to their photos.

I am BLESSED to be your wedding photographer Sarah & Michael! Can’t wait!
