Sunny & Jordan Shipley, Austin TX

March 15

Plans were coming together beautifully, and Sunny & Jordan were all set to get married last May. But just weeks before their wedding day, they were in a horrific car accident and Sunny broke her neck. Can you even imagine? Hard times–harder than words can describe–brought them closer than ever as they navigated the next few days and weeks. Despite the tragic accident, love always wins and they knew they wanted to go on with their wedding as planned. Sunny, by a miracle, was able to walk down the aisle without a neck brace, and they shared great joy on their wedding day. My heart resonates with their story. Love overcomes tragedy. Love grows stronger through it all.

Love never fails.

Sunny never had bridal portraits taken because of the accident, so I was thrilled when she contacted me for a bridal/couple session. I love her style and am genuinely proud of the classic, feminine feel to these photos.

Krista, Austin Texas, Bridals

February 28

Krista and Gavin were married this Saturday in the most beautiful sunset ceremony you could imagine. I couldn’t wait to share a few of her luminous bridal portraits with you. How beautiful is she?

Rachel, Getting Ready, Austin TX

January 9

Maybe it’s because I got married two and a half months ago, but I’m LOVING the sweet time at weddings when the bride is getting ready. Even that phrase speaks to me…getting ready. Getting ready to meet her groom. This state of joyful anticipation, yet calm serenity is one of my favorites to photograph.

I want to share another Getting Ready post with you today. Meet Rachel. She and her husband, Taylor, got married at The Winfield Inn just outside of Austin. Rachel carefully gave the special ladies in her life something to help with as she was getting ready. Her mom zipped up her dress, her grandmother put on her garter (you’ll LOVE those black & white images!), her sister put on her necklace, and so on. If you’re planning your wedding, I’d suggest doing something similar. It’s a special way to get your loved ones involved.

Rachel’s sister just had a baby, Liam, and you can tell Rachel is totally smitten with her new nephew!

Below on the right: This is SO one of my favorite photographs of the day. Rachel was officially on her way to walk down the aisle, and she gave this giant, excited smile. The joy on her face is beautiful, and I love the slight motion blur of the photo.

A few bridal portraits. Don’t you love that simple brick path? Um and her succulent bouquet?! :)

Wedding Shoes!

December 14

It’s no secret that I love photographing a bride’s shoes. I remember picking out my own wedding shoes earlier this year. My mom and I made such sweet memories shopping for understated flats that felt Audrey Hepburn-ish. It may seem small, but isn’t it the little things that make a big difference? :)

Here’s a collection of my favorite shoe shots from weddings this year.

Just for fun, I’d love to hear about your wedding shoes and how you found them. Join the conversation and leave a comment. :)

Audrey, Getting Ready, Huntsville AL

December 12

There is something purely amazing that happens when a girl gets ready for her wedding day. I’m currently in love with the idea of having a Getting Ready Party, complete with ladylike invitations and pretty loungewear.

Here’s Audrey as she prepares for her wedding day with her bridesmaids. The natural progression and emotion of these photos make me happy.

Rachel, Austin TX

November 9

A little set of Rachel on her wedding day in Austin, TX. My three favorite things about this set: Rachel’s amazing succulent bouquet, the cloudy skies that softened the colors, and the classic, symmetrical setup.

More to come…
